Sash 02 (Uchkur)
Embroidered on cotton (cambric), 23cm wide and 172 cm long; traditional motif of a large flower (here carnation), surrounded by a stem of hyacinth flowers (here represented by eight-pointed stars), a tulip and leaves, all placed in a vase;
embroidered in counted-thread style and satin stitch in colors of red, fuchsia, green, orange and purple, pink and metallic thread (gold); main motif repeated twice along the width of cloth; height of the embroidery from the tip of leaves to edge of cloth, 21 cm. Note: This motif of a main flower (carnation or rose), with a bending stem of hyacinths and a tulip, is commonly seen in Turkish embroidery. |
Sash 03 (Uchkur)
Embroidered on linen, 26 cm wide and 198 cm long; an unconventional motif of a simple flower on a stem, circled by the stem of another simple flower and leaves; motif repeated four times along the width of cloth; entirely worked in gold thread and strips;
satin, eye and mushabak stitches (between second and third motifs); height of the embroidery from the tip of twigs to edge of cloth, 15 cm. |
Sash 06 (Uchkur)
Embroidered on heavy linen, 27 cm wide and 210 cm long; a single motif of flower, repeated four times across the width of cloth, forming a row, and then each row repeated four times;
worked in stem and satin stitches in multi-color threads, including oranges, navy blue, light purple, pink and green, and metallic thread (silver); height of the embroidered area from the tip of flowers to edge of cloth, 30 cm. |
